The Application of Green Human Resources Management in Tourism Sector

Abstract

Green Human Resource Management is a modern management concept that focuses on integrating green management concepts into human resources strategies. With the increased of the awareness on environmental management and sustainable development, Green Human Resource Management has acquired its unique position in research. The study aims to explore the impact of the application of green human resources management in the Egyptian travel agencies category "A", via. 400 questionnaires were distributed to a random sample of managers in travel agencies category A, while 336 forms were valid for statistical analysis. The study found that the Egyptian travel agencies do not have an environmental management system, besides not paying attention to the application of environmental management practices. The study revealed that there is a clear decline in the adoption of green tourism management practices by the travel agencies. There is also a significant decline in the adoption by travel agencies of green job analysis and description, green recruitment, green selection, green induction, green training and development, green performance assessment, and green rewards in travel agencies.
