The Role of Tourism and Travel Agencies in the Development of the Hotel Sector

Abstract

The aim of the research is to find out the benefits of tourism and travel agencies and their impact on the development of the hotel sector. To achieve this goal, the researchers designed a survey questionnaire distributed to a random sample of marketing managers and their assistants in three, four and five star hotels (50 hotels) in Karbala, Iraq. 120 applications were distributed, of which 98 were 81.67% valid for statistical analysis. The results of the field study showed that tourism and travel agencies have an important role in the development of the hotel sector, boosting production and increasing operating profits, in addition to its role in promoting and marketing hotels. Based on the results of the study, a set of recommendations were developed.
