This study investigated the moderating effect of demographic characteristics in improving the relationship between managers’ emotional intelligence and employees’ work stress at Five-star hotels in the Greater Cairo Metropolitan. The study adopted the quantitative approach. Of 345 survey questionnaires were distributed, only 198 were found suitable for statistical analysis. The results showed that there is a negative correlation between emotional intelligence and work stress in totally. Furthermore, the results also showed positive significant effects of the moderating role of the demographic characteristics of the study sample (age, type of job, and years of experience) in improving the relationship between managers’ emotional intelligence and work stress of employees. This study recommends a review of the list of criteria for selection, appointment, and promotion, provided that these criteria include a standard for emotional intelligence as one of the basic requirements.
