Development of Qalyubia Governorate as a tourism model for Rural Tourism Pattern in Egypt

Abstract

Rural tourism has become of great interest to the governments of countries since the nineties of the last century, as governments have sought to increase their contribution to the total tourism activities, and it is considered a driver for many rural economies through its contribution to raising the economy of rural areas, in enhancing living standards, and achieving development. Economic and social and reducing rural migration, as it works to support farmers, maintain natural and cultural expansion, create job opportunities in rural places of residence and give local people the opportunity to increase their income and diversify their sources in addition to supporting small enterprises, and because each country has its own capabilities for this pattern according to the resources and geographical and natural conditions Therefore, the research aimed to develop Qalyubia governorate as a tourist model for the pattern of rural tourism in Egypt, using the questionnaire addressed to experts in addition to personal interviews with the local community population. The research also dealt with presenting models and components of the Egyptian countryside in some governorates, with the aim of identifying ways to benefit from these models in Qalyubia Governorate, after presenting the tourism potential of the governorate and the obstacles to tourism In rural areas, the research presented proposals to promote rural tourism in the governorate, and based on the theoretical and field study and expert opinions, a number of recommendations were proposed to the government sector, to the Ministry of Tourism, the General Authority for Tourism Promotion, and to the local population in Qalyubia Governorate, perhaps the most prominent of which are:Involving the local population in the development process, establishing a modern transportation network that connects Qalyubia Governorate with other governorates, seeking to encourage and provide investment opportunities in rural areas, and ensure to increase societal awareness of the importance of tourism and its economic value.
