The Adoption of ISO 9001 Quality Standard in Hotel Technical Education Institutions in Alexandria: Staff Members Perspective

Abstract

Quality is the establishment of distinctive performance norms to meet the expectation of the beneficiary while performing the work in an efficient and effective manner in the shortest possible time.  The potential application of ISO 9001:2015 enhances the education of students and provides insights into faculty’s views and encourages them to excel and raise the level of work performance.  The study community consists of staff members in the four (4) hotel technical institutes in Alexandria: namely; the Hotel Institute in Alexandria (EGOTH), the Hotel Technical Institute, the Maritime Hotel Center and the Hotel School with a five-year system. It entailed the distribution of thirty-three (33) questionnaires with a return of thirty-one (31) valid forms at a rate of (93.9%). The study recommends making available the necessary protocols to encourage and support staff members to implement and adhere to the standards, and providing training courses, with continuous follow-up to ensure the continuity of the utilization of the procedures and steps so as to maintain a higher level of performance, the updating of curricula and providing the necessary competences in line with the requirements of the labour market to achieve the desired objectives.
