Exploring the Perceptions of Egyptian Rural Community Toward Female's Work in Hotels

Abstract

The paper aims at examining the attitude and perception of Egyptian rural communities towards female's work in the hotel industry. Moreover، the study aims at exploring the extent to which female contribute to the hotel industry in Egypt. The paper also identifies the rural community characteristics and the female circumstances in their society. Based on data collected from 298 individuals of rural community، SPSS was employed to analyze a survey consists of three main elements: (1) image of the hotel industry and female’s work in hotels، (2) the reasons behind the rural community refuse of female's work in hotels and joining to tourism education، (3) to propose a tentative recommendations enhancing the hotel industry image and encouraging female students in joining hospitality education and work. The results showed that the rural community has a negative attitude towards perceptions of hotels’ services. The results also indicated that graduate’s females from hotel department do not prefer working in the hotel industry. Moreover، the results revealed that rural community reject the joining of their daughters to the hotel education. Therefore، it is recommended that media، cultural and educational institutions should help improving the image of the hotel industry.
