Abstract

This study aims to identify the role of domestic tourist’s culture in preserving tourist sites. The study was based on the survey method. A survey questionnaire was designed to measure culture level of the domestic tourist and the attitude of preserving the tourist sites. The survey was distributed on an accidental sample of domestic tourists. A set of statistical measures, including the arithmetic mean and spareman correlation coefficient, were used. The results of the study showed that there is a relationship between the domestic tourist’s culture and the preservation of tourist sites. Finally, a number of recommendations were suggested, including coordination between the Ministries of Education, Higher Education and Tourism in order to prepare programs for tourism education for different stages of education in proportion to each stage. Mass media should introduce tourist sites through programs and documentaries to pay attention to domestic tourists throughout the year and not only in times of recession and crises because of its economic, social and cultural importance.
