Foreign capital in Egypt during the period (1922-1952)

Abstract

This research deals with the state's efforts to liberate the Egyptian economy from the control of foreign capital during the period (1922-1952)، and the foreign reaction to that. This research begins with a study of the amount of foreign and Egyptian capital in various Egyptian and foreign joint-stock companies، and sheds light on the state's efforts to localize foreign capital in Egypt in a way that serves the interest of the national economy through the establishment of pure Egyptian companies. As well as the issuance of laws that limit the control of foreign capital and open the way for the contribution of Egyptian capital to build the national economy، which also limits the foreign presence in government jobs in Egypt. And the attempts of some foreign companies that resorted to circumventing Law No. 138 of 1947 regarding the fate of companies، and the Egyptian government's response to these attempts. Finally، this research ends with a conclusion of the most important recommendations.
