The Mediating Role of Job Alienation in the Relationship between Organizational Cynicism and Job Frustration in Tourism Companies Category (A) and Five-Star Hotels in Cairo

Abstract

The study aimed to assess the impact of organizational cynicism on both job alienation and job frustration, as well as measuring the effect of job alienation on job frustration. The study also aimed to explore whether job alienation and its dimensions had a mediating role in the relationship between organizational cynicism and job frustration in tourism companies category (A) and five-star hotels in Cairo. To achieve these goals, 741 questionnaires were distributed to a sample of employees at various administrative levels in tourism companies category (A) and five-star hotels in Cairo, while the analysis of 582 questionnaires with a response rate of 78.5% was depended on using the SPSS and AMOS programs. The results of the study showed that there is a significant and positive effect of organizational cynicism on job alienation and job frustration. The results also depicted that job alienation has a significant and positive effect on job frustration. Finally, the results of the study concluded that job alienation and its three dimensions of helplessness, meaninglessness, and self-alienation partially mediate the relationship between organizational cynicism and job frustration in tourism companies category (A) and five-star hotels in Cairo.
