Abstract

The study of epigraphic inscriptions is one of the important studies in the field of archaeological studies, because these inscriptions contain various contents that are greatly useful in various archaeological studies. These archaeological texts are considered very important because of their great role in introducing the founder of the archaeological building, its various titles, the history of its construction, and also the renovations that it made. This paper focuses on the study the epigraphic inscriptions on the wooden lintels above the entrances of old residential buildings in the villages of El-Bagour in Menoufia Governorate during the era of the Muhammad Ali Pasha dynasty. The value of this essay lies in its publishing a number of epigraphic inscriptions on wooden lintels published for the first time. The study included an overview of the city of El-Bajour in the Islamic era, in addition to shedding light on the villages of El-Bajour, which contained inscriptions on the residential buildings lintels. It also shows the importance of inscriptions on Islamic buildings. This paper also included a descriptive and analytical study of the inscriptions, followed by the catalog containing figures and plates, in addition to a list of sources and references,
