The concept of smart cities has become at the forefront of the international community's concerns, as a promising response to urban sustainability challenges, and smart city services include the use of smart technology and environmental sustainability methods in all facilities. The problem of the study lies in how to use the smart resort and city of El Galala in Egypt to maintain sustainability factors, preserve the environment and provide high quality tourism services to tourists and citizens. The research aims to identify the concept of smart cities, their components, characteristics and sustainability criteria within the Egyptian tourist destination, study the characteristics of the smart city of Galala, and identify the most important standards, specifications and characteristics of smart cities within the smart resort and city of Galala, It was concluded that smart cities in Egypt help sustain the Egyptian tourist destination, develop tourism and place Egypt in the ranks of the regional tourist countries. The study recommends those in charge of tourism activity in El Galala Smart City and Resort, to quickly finalize the criteria for smart cities to achieve their tourism goals.
