A study of Islamic decorations and arts within the framework of Coptic arts

Abstract

Several previous studies focused on discovering the elements of mutual influence between Islamic and Coptic arts, while this study is based on analyzing the characteristics, features and Islamic artistic styles that appear within the framework of Coptic arts, within the contexts of coexistence in Egyptian society between Christians and Muslims.
The study will analyze the artistic and pictorial elements by applying them to some examples of Coptic artifacts, including wall paintings from ancient monasteries and churches, icons, and illustrated Coptic manuscripts dating to the Islamic periods, in an attempt to link them to the sources of Islamic art from which Coptic artists borrowed their elements in depicting religious themes,. Biblical characters, monks, patriarchs, and saints, etc…
