The Impact of Talent Management on Sustaining the Competitive Advantage of Saudi Travel Agencies: The Mediating Role of Strategic Agility

Abstract

In light of the rapid developments witnessed by the tourism sector in the Kingdom within the Saudi Vision 2030, talent management has become a key factor in ensuring the superiority of institutions and the sustainability of their competitive advantage. Strategic agility is also considered an essential tool for adapting to changes and achieving sustainable performance. The study aimed to explore the impact of talent management on sustainable competitive advantage in Saudi travel agencies, with a focus on the mediating role played by strategic agility in this relationship. The study relied on a quantitative approach to data collection, where a questionnaire was designed and distributed to a sample of workers in travel agencies in the Kingdom, and 488 valid forms were collected for analysis. The results of the study showed a positive impact of talent management on sustainable competitive advantage and strategic agility, in addition to a positive impact of strategic agility on competitive advantage. The results also confirmed that strategic agility plays a full mediating role in enhancing the impact of talent management on sustainable competitive advantage in travel agencies. The study recommended that travel agencies focus on enhancing talent management practices, such as attracting talent, developing employee skills, and motivating them to innovate. It also stressed the importance of building an organizational culture that supports strategic agility, including improving decision-making speed, predicting changes, and developing new products and services that achieve customer loyalty.
