The Mediating Role of Entrepreneurial Orientation in the Relation between Organizational Health and Strategic Performance in Egyptian Tourism Companies

Abstract

The study aimed to assess the impact of organizational health on both entrepreneurial orientation and strategic performance, as well as the impact of entrepreneurial orientation on strategic performance. The study also aimed to evaluate the mediating role of entrepreneurial orientation in the relationship between organizational health and strategic performance in Egyptian tourism companies. To achieve the study objectives, a questionnaire was used as a tool to collect data from managers and department heads in Category A tourism companies in Cairo and Giza. A total of 389 valid questionnaires were analyzed using structural equation modeling and path analysis. The results indicated a positive impact of organizational health on both entrepreneurial orientation and strategic performance. The results also highlighted a positive impact of entrepreneurial orientation on strategic performance. As well, the results demonstrated that entrepreneurial orientation plays a partial mediating role in the relationship between organizational health and strategic performance in tourism companies. In light of the findings, it is recommended to continue developing participatory planning mechanisms. Goal clarity should be enhanced by involving employees in formulating them and providing practical explanations of the roles of each department in achieving these goals. This can be achieved by organizing periodic workshops for employees when developing operational plans, and linking overall objectives to individual performance indicators that help track progress and enhance commitment.
