Abstract

This rare silver Twenty Piasters of Sultan Fuad is considered one of the most important Egyptian coins during the age of Mohammed Ali Dynasty in general, and the age of Sultan Fuad 1st in particular. This coin has a great historical significance, because it reflects the type and decorations of coins during the era of Egyptian sultanate (1333-1341 H. / 1914-1922 A.D.). It also symbolizes one of the development stages for the Egyptian coins during the reign of Mohammed Ali Dynasty. Besides, this rare coin has a considerable artistic value because of its beautiful and fine ornaments that represented in floral decorations and precise Naskhi inscriptions. Based on this importance, this research aims at presenting a descriptive and analytic study for this rare silver twenty Piasters of Sultan Fuad, which published for the first time. The current research revealed a number of valuable results, such as highlighting the historical, civilized and artistic significance of this twenty piasters, as well as, showing the similarities and differences between it and other coins.
