Abstract

This study aims to investigate the effect of socio-economic factors on participation of the pensioners in entertainment events held in Saudi Arabia. The study employed electronic questionnaires to achieve its objectives. The target population comprised retired Saudi men and women across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. A total of 500 responses were collected. Statistical data were analyzed using the SPSS software, and the study adopted a descriptive-analytical methodology. A direct correlation was detected between the social factors scale (i.e., family and society members, total score of the scale) and the scale of entertainment events in whole. A direct correlation was also spotted between economic factors (i.e., income adequacy for entertainment, financial facilities afforded by the society, and total score of the scale) and the scale of participation in entertainment events in whole. Findings also revealed that ‘relationship with family members’ was the most influencing factor among social factors over participation of the retired personnel in entertainment events, while ‘financial facilities’ was the most influencing among economic factors. Both variables of ‘Education’ and ‘Position’ were respectively among the most influencing variables. The study underscored the significance to bolster the role of Saudi entertainment authorities to provide high-quality entertainment programs for families of pensioners and financial facilities that encourage them to join appropriate entertainment events.
