The Role of Organizational Climate in Developing Hotel Employees’ Creative Behavior

Abstract

The study aims to identify the role of the organizational climate in developing employees' creative behavior at five-star hotels in Cairo. A questionnaire consisting of 64 questions was distributed to a simple random sample of 420 hotel employees. The number of valid questionnaires was 360 forms (85.7%). The statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) was used in analyzing the data of the study. Frequency, percentages and mean tests were used to assess organizational climate and employees' creative behavior through investigated hotels. Spearman's coefficient correlation was used to determine the relationship between organizational climate, and creative behavior of employees. A multiple linear regression model was also used to determine the effect of independent variables (organizational climate dimensions) in the dependent variable (creative behavior of employees). The results revealed that the evaluation of employees about organizational climate was positive and also employees' creative behavior was positive. The results showed a positive, strong, and high significant correlation at 1% level was obtained between organizational climate and the the development of employees' creative behavior, The multiple linear regression analysis showed a statistically significant effect of all organizational climate dimensions on employees' creative behavior, but at different levels. The study recommends that hotel management should review the dimensions of the organizational climate on an ongoing basis to enhance its positive impact and determine its negative impacts, identify training needs of the staff, design the programs in a suitable manner, encourage renewal and innovation of employees, establish organizational unit in the organizational structure to provide moral and material support to the employees and apply creative practices.
