The Impact of Organizational Health on the Organizational Silence within Tourism Education Institutions

Abstract

The organizational health of any organization is related to its organizational effectiveness, and its ability to develop and grow. An organization with good organizational health has the potential to create a stimulating work environment and encourage development and excellence in the work business environment. Organizational silence is a behavioral phenomenon that has been studied recently, because of its great danger to any organization. The emergence of organizational silence behavior in an organization is related to the applicable leadership style, the work environment, the mutual trust between management and employees, and the extent to which employees share their opinions and suggestions when making decisions within the organization. The main objective of this research is to identify the impact of organizational health on the behavior of organizational silence among faculty staff within the tourism educational institutions in Egypt. To achieve this objective, the researcher distributed 280 questionnaires to a random sample of tourism and hotels faculties and institutions' staff.  251 questionnaires were found usable for analysis. IRTPRO V.4.1 and SPSS v.24 programs were used to analyze data. The study found that the tourism and hotels faculties and institutes are characterized by relatively good organizational health and low level of organizational silence between their staff. The study also concluded that the good organizational health in tourism and hotels faculties and institutes reduce the organizational silence among staff by 39.1%.
