The Development of Hotel Services in the Northern - Western Coast: An Empirical Study on "Ras Alhekma – Matrouh" region

Abstract

The study aims to evaluate the hotel services in Ras Alhekmaa – Matrouh region, and to determine the possibility and obstacles of their development. The study based on a survey questionnaire, which was sent to a random sample of local and international tourists in some tourist sites within the Arab Republic of Egypt to identify their views. Also, a structure interview was held with the Egyptian tourism development experts to identify the future vision for the development of hotel services in Ras Alhekma - Matrouh region. The results of the study explored the most important elements of the development of hotel services in the region and the most important types of tourism and accommodation patterns, and services that fit with the nature of the region. Also, the most important incentives for hotel investment in the region and the revenues of that, and finally came to a set of recommendations, including: the necessity of development of beach tourism because it is the most appropriate touristic type, attention to the development of chalets and accommodation units and the hotel rooms because it is the most appropriate patterns for the region.
