Evaluating the tourism and hotels faculties' performance according to the Malcolm Baldrige model

Abstract

Malcolm Baldrige's model is the first comprehensive model for measuring quality within distinguished educational institutions. It also gives clear indications of strengths and weaknesses in the performance of educational institutions according to its seven criteria. The application of the Malcolm Baldrige model is also important in achieving excellence in the performance of educational institutions at all levels. To achieve the goal of the study; A total of 330 survey forms were distributed electronically through social networking sites to faculty members and assistant staff at the faculties of tourism and hotels in Egyptian universities, while the analysis of 294 forms valid for analysis was relied upon. The study concluded that there is a statistically significant relationship between the standards of Malcolm Baldrige models in the faculties of tourism and hotels in the Egyptian public universities. There are also statistically significant differences in the respondents' responses to the criteria of the Malcolm Baldrige model due to the demographic data represented by gender, age, job, academic degree, scientific department, and number of years of experience. The research recommends the continuous development of teaching and learning methods in the light of modern global trends, as well as in light of the enormous technological developments witnessed by the global educational system, and in proportion to the different types of students. As well as following the strategy of continuous improvement of all operations, activities and practices of the College (Educational, Research and community) in the light of the latest developments in the internal and external work environments.
