Abstract

The Muslim population is growing rapidly and is expected to reach 26% of the world's population by 2030. The growth of the Muslim population and increase in their disposable income has led to a large number of Muslims traveling for leisure, business, healthcare and religious purposes. This increase has led to Muslim travelers becoming one of the fastest growing travel segments in the tourism industry. Halal tourism is carrying out tourism activities in accordance with the regulations and instructions of Islamic Sharia. The study aims to evaluate Egypt's opportunities as a halal tourism destination. The study presented an indicative model that presents the facilities and services of implementing halal tourism in Egyptian tourist destinations, as well as applying halal tourism standards in both accommodation and transportation services, tourism companies and tour operators, conferences, sports tourism, shopping and marketing places, human resources working in the tourism sector, and health care places, and tourist guides. The study obtained results through a field study, by distributing a questionnaire to a sample of workers in the Egyptian tourism sectors. Using the descriptive analytical approach and by collecting and analyzing (231) survey questionnaires in the period from May 2023 to August 2023. The results revealed that there is a statistically significant relationship and impact between the components of halal tourism and the opportunities for developing this type in the Egyptian tourist destination. The study also found a statistically significant relationship and impact between the challenges of halal tourism and the opportunities for developing this type in Egyptian tourist destinations.
