Abstract

A substantial number of papyrus documents from Roman Egypt have preserved invaluable information about the intricate conditions of the textile industry during that period. These documents provide an exceptionally clear picture of the mechanisms of this industry, as well as insights into the lives of textile workers and their training and employment contracts. Numerous papyri from Egypt during this era have been preserved, providing more comprehensive insights into the ancient daily realities of textile workers in both households and large workshops of Roman Egypt than any other source. Through contracts, letters, receipts, petitions, and similar documents, that added a profound understanding of the economic, social, and legal realities of concerning textile workers in Roman Egypt. This research examines the conditions of textile workers and sheds light on that industry by studying some of the documents related to workers in Roman Egypt.
