Abstract

A study aims to identify the effect of information systems in engineering and maintenance department in improving the quality of services provided in hotels, where information systems are defined. As well,  the importance of application of information systems in Department of Engineering and Maintenance has been identified, as the study depends on designing a questionnaire including the strategies and  maintenance types, systems (electronic - traditional), which are applied in hotels as well as  the advantages and constraints of application of electronic systems. This questionnaire was distributed to a random sample of employees in engineering and maintenance department. A number of personal interviews were conducted on a random sample of heads of engineering and maintenance department in hotels. Some statistical scales have been used such as (ka-square scale, calculation of relative average and percentage of endorsement). The results showed that the use of information systems in engineering and maintenance department achieves many advantages (for employees and facility), which results in the quality of provided services. There are also some obstacles to apply such systems fully. Finally, it is recommended to work on training courses and spreading awareness among all employees in the department on the use of computers.
